N&N’s Guide to a selection of Richmond’s most outstanding Nursery Schools

Maria Grey Nursery School is tucked away behind the trees on leafy Richmond Hill, and offers a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment for your child. “Our belief is that, given the security of a safe, caring and loving environment, children’s confidence will bloom, enabling them to discover their individuality and to develop social skills at their own pace”. Our kids loved it there, especially the lovely outside space with the hens, guinea pigs and tortoise. Ofsted rated Outstanding. Open 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday.

Outdoor Owls is an independent full-time outdoor nursery for 2-5 year olds on Richmond Hill. Inspired by Nordic traditions which promote learning through free unstructured play rather than more rigid goal orientated methods. They also go on regular trips around the local community to places such as elderly homes, Ham House, supermarkets, libraries and much more. ‘Let’s break free from the classroom walls!’ Outdoor Owls believe there are many environmental, educational, health & social bene fits to outdoor learning. “The outdoors is also a highly liberating space, with endless potential for creativity to flow. In nature’s playground, it feels like an adventure every day filled with exploration joy and excitement”.
